Inspiration for developers!

To bad, they never got the financial success their deserved from it.

I genuinely believe it was easier at the beginnings less competition, you can be the first you get all the attention and support. People got famous and rich for drawing some rectangles on the screen.
I wish I was born in this era in a family who can afford a personal computer when I was 9 years old. It is almost impossible to do anything original now days. Someone has already done it or already working on it with a budget 10x bigger than yours not to mention we begin to see tech where you can just describe what you want and a bloody AI going to do it for you like in Star Trek.

LOL, I am losing inspiration and motivation after watching this XD

Don't loose hope! There's always something new around the bend! Sure software has gone to a point where most things exist in one shape or another, but there's always something next!.

Innovation never gets old!

Of course I don't give up. I do enjoy development and to work on things I personally need and want and consider share it when it is ready. But the kicker is when you are working on something and mid development someone drop the very same thing you've been working on.

One example of this that really hit me, I've been working on a tool to build 3D game assets from basic building blocks I was really passionate about it and it was something I really needed because I am not an artist and then suddenly Kenney dropped AssetForge. The very thing I was working on. I was mad and happy at the same time because I really liked AssetForge but now it was pointless to continue.

Then or before, can't remember I was working on a tool to create 2D weapon assets, guess what..Kenney dropped the tool.
I was recently considering to create a tool to create 2D space ship assets, guessed it, Kenney has the tool dropped already.

I swear this Kenney guy is me from the future or something. :ROFLMAO:

I am currently working on ..... "something", I swear if Kenney going to drop it again before I do, I begin to use some sort of aluminium foil hat and begin to consider the possibility the guy is a reptilian reading my mind.

You be able to find me on TikTok selling aluminium foil hats because "THEY ARE HERE" 👽
LOL maybe this is what I should do for real

If everyone would think like this, we would have only one code editor, one image editor, one animation package, etc. etc.

I know the feeling too..it's bittersweet!

I work with common things like graphics a lot (despite I'm a musician I do love dabbling with pixel graphics but always hate some feature or miss something in the available packages, and boy are there's a lot of graphic packages out there haha.

But as you say, coding can be lots of fun from time to time. I enjoy coding my own becuase I can make it exactly as I want it to be. It's fun, and somehow it can be useful to other people to happen to like the same as me. You might be able to find something that is unique, you being an artist you know what artists really want.

No I think it is really you. You work during sleeping and wake up as different person. Are you sure you not Kenney? :ROFLMAO:

That is true but usually each tool does something better than others or does the same but faster, more efficiently or does less but more lightweight using less resources or support more platforms, using new technologies..etc
I bet many Electron and Node application was written just for the sake of being written in JS, more simple to maintain, more simple to contribute..etc

I was not motivated to replicate or do better than AssetForge. I just needed the tool and I was happy with AssetForge, I was no longer motivated. Maybe if AssetForge was not cross platform or missing a feature or it was no longer developed, losing compatibility, stability, crashes a lot , slow..etc but it was great and relatively cheap. Maybe if it was cost $200 then I would say nope I do my own but I believe I paid something like $15 for it and even got free upgrade for 2.0. The universe did not give me any reason to continue.

Yes, usually I enjoy coding, problem solving, to make my own just for fun but it doesn't last long enough. I need some extra motivation. Making something unique that I know for certain is useful is the biggest motivation, but I need Kenney to take a break now because I am running out of ideas 😅

You work during sleeping and wake up as different person

It sure sometime feels that way. I wake up more tired than before I went to sleep. Can't remember when was the last time I was wake up being fresh o_O But yeah, it is actually interesting how can 2 people have the very same idea the very same time and also have the opportunity to do it.

there is ALWAYS someone working on something similar.

Sure but making something similar does not motivate me. I would like to make something original and being the first would not hurt for once. How many people going to release a similar product AFTER I have released the original, I don't care.
