Would it be possible to add directive for switching between just using ios emulator vs real hardware with proper dev account?
 
Of something didn't change the last years, then imho no, not possible with xcode and its command line tools.

Adding to this, I do not have the hardware to develop and test this anyway, which imho I would need.
 
Okay, I understand. I'm short of hardware now otherwise I would happily send something to develop on I want to help in any way that I can.
