Hi everyone. New user here, but I've been programming as a hobby for many years now (in addition to a couple paid-for projects here and there).

Anyway, I just wanted to express my fondness for Cerberus X, as I have just finished creating a game with it and published it on itch.io.

I made a $25 donation, which I hope will help out the developers and keep them motivated.

Cerberus X is so nice, I really like the language a lot, the IDE, the way it compiles to native code, the whole package.

I hope it has a long future ahead. Thanks again.

Erich K.

Hello Erich and welcome to the forum. It's great to have you with us. And a big thank you for your donation.
For sure, I will check out what you have created with CX. It is always great to see what people create with CX.
I believe that coding tools like CX have a future along the sides of the big tools like Unity and the likes.

Thanks for welcoming me. I have used other tools as well, including Unity, but I'm trying to narrow things down to the best of the best so that I don't get overwhelmed. As far as game engines go that are more programming-oriented and less visual (like, say, Game Maker or Construct), I think Cerberus is right up there near the very top.

Anyway, on my itch.io page, the game I wrote with Cerberus is called REFLEX-4. Give it a try if you want; I hope you like it.

I've used BlitzMax to author a couple of projects, and then I tried Monkey, and then when I saw that Monkey was succeeded by Cerberus, I immediately switched over to that.

I actually am worried that a lot of people are going to react that way initially, but I'm hoping that those who think the concept is interesting will stick with it and try to get better at it. Myself, I'm at the point where I can win more than half of the games I start. But sure -- I'm a little biased, since I'm the author. It was hard for me to pick a happy medium -- obviously we all want our games to be challenging, but not impossible.

I suppose in the future I can implement skill levels.

Thank you for your donatation! It is not so much the money, but the gesture of appreciation that comes with it and I value a lot.
Welcome to the forum.

I tried your game and had the same experience as @MikeHart. Maybe the movement of the arrow could be done continually without hopping from one column to the other.
But maybe it is just the feeling that the computer opponent is not struggling at all to hit the right column.

Actually there is an element of chance as far as the computer hitting the right column; if you watch closely you should see that the CPU will make moves that don't result in winning even though there is a clear winning move available.

Thanks for trying it out. :)
