It doesn't seem to make a difference how this option is set, I get tabs every time.

Also maybe the label for that option should read 'Hard Tabs' or 'Use Hard Tabs'
 
That will be a tough one. It is how qt works in that widget. The spaces will only be used with selected blocks.

Or make your life easier and remove the option! If no one has complained about hard tabs (and it doesn't bother me personally as I'm not going to be opening CX files in any other program) then it makes sense to remove the option. It's not an important issue after all.
